A History of Missouri Camping

Shady Beach Campground is one of the longest standing campgrounds in the area and has earned a reputation for immaculate grounds and friendly management. Shady Beach was established in the early 1930's as a scenic, quiet spot to get out of Model-T and cool off in the pristine water of the Elk River during a long car ride.

A Tradition of Missouri Camping That Continues Today

Almost 80 years later, we're still that peaceful family getaway on Missouri's Elk River, but now we offer:

Shady Beach specializes in water floats on the Elk River, which flows along 1/4 mile of our grounds in Noel, Missouri. The Elk River is classed as a I-II rated river, which is great for beginners, families, and those more experienced in water sports who just want to relax for the day.

Our canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tubes float back to camp. No more waiting on that dang bus. You just grab your stuff and walk back to the camp or your car.

We offer float trips ranging from 5 miles to 20 miles depending on the conditions of the Elk River. Rental craft include 4-man & 6-man rafts, top mount kayaks, tubes, and canoes for your day on the river.

One of Shady Beach's most noted sites is the old General Store. We are proud to announce that the brand new Shady Beach Store is now open! We are the FIRST area campground to offer a Cappucino coffee stand. Come by to enjoy a steaming cup of fresh, delicious Cappucino as you shop for any camping necessities you may have forgotten, plus pop, snacks, souvenirs, firewood and more.

We have newly remodeled bathrooms with hot showers. Away from the river you can enjoy games of volleyball and horseshoes.

Shady Beach is dedicated to giving you a pleasant and relaxing stay, whether it's just the two of you on a romantic getaway or a large group. With three owners living on the grounds year round, we don't believe in being behind the scenes. We are up front and always available to assist you and make your stay at Shady Beach a memorable one!
